About me

Hi.

I’m Paul Oveisi.  I’m a father above all else.

After that, I seem to have found myself immersed in music.  I’m an artist manager, live music venue owner and community organizer/activist.   I’ve been a lawyer, bartender and am a serial entrepreneur.

As a live music venue owner, I’m proud to have built up Momo’s (with the help of some very special people) into a music venue run by music professionals and musicians.

As an artist manager, I’m proud to have worked to build a band from the start, the talented Band of Heathens.  I now work exclusively with Dan Dyer in his post-Breedlove solo career.

As a community organizer, I sit on the Austin Music Commission and chair the Live Music Task Force.  The goal is quite simple: to build up a solid infrastructure to help musicians/music industry folks do their thing.

I also sit on the Austin Downtown Commission, working to create a better, more liveable, more creative downtown.  As a downtown resident and business-owner, I’m proud to be a part of what its slated to be the most vibrant downtown in America.

I’ll also be working with various community and city leaders on improving recycling/decreasing our carbon footprint, enhancing downtown livability and entertainment, and improving fitness/nutrition among Austinites, especially children.

I’m a native Austinite and have lived here for all but three years at this fine, but expensive, law school after obtaining an Economics degree from the University of Texas.  I toss around the idea of returning to graduate school to further study Economics and stay somewhat connected to academia by the occasional stint as adjunct professor at St. Edward’s University.  I used to speak Farsi but after about 15 years of no practice, am now trying to re-learn it.

Here’s the November 2008 Austin American-Statesman piece on my work with music.

    Dear Paul,

My name is Boyan Boiadjiev (former Austinite and Houstonian) and I am currently a graduate student at Indiana University, Bloomington.
I have been doing research on the Live Music Task Force as part of a project with the Mayor’s Office of the City of Bloomington, IN.
Can you please help me to find a “charge statement” of the Live Music Task Force – the primary reasons it was assembled and its directives. I have been looking for a concise text for the past several months now while observing the Task Force’s work, but have not been able to find it.

Personally, I am really happy that Austin has been taking these steps in trying to preserve its reputation in the States (equally in Europe) and we are waiting in anticipation for any future developments.

Thank you very much for your help,
    Sincerely grateful,
    Boyan Boiadjiev
